Head of Rights & Licensing
About the Role
You’ll be responsible for managing the global licensing and representation of Ovation’s catalogue of work. You’ll work with the founders to set the strategy for how our work is licensed and exploited, oversee our agents and partners and ensure our rights are managed intelligently, consistently and with long-term value in mind.
The Head of Rights & Licensing is the central point of coordination between Ovation, our agents, producers and partners.
This is a senior role in a growing business. You’ll have experience in theatrical rights, strong commercial judgement and a collaborative and creative approach.
Requirements
Key responsibilities
• Act as the primary point of contact with Ovation’s agents, licensing companies and producers.
• Oversee the global licensing of Ovation’s catalogue globally, supporting agents in securing productions that align with the long-term interests of the work.
• Identify and execute new commercial opportunities.
• Review and approve key licensing proposals and agreements.
• Work closely with the Executive Producer to align licensing activity with creative strategy across theatre, film, television and music.
Must-have (essential)
• 5+ years’ experience in the entertainment industry, with direct responsibility for the management of copyrights as an agent, producer, general manager or executive.
• A genuine interest in theatre and live performance, with an understanding of how theatrical works are licensed, produced and sustained over time.
• Strong relationships with producers, agents and partners in key international markets.
• Excellent organisational and commercial skills, with the ability to handle complex rights information, contracts and approvals.
Very desirable
• Experience working with or alongside estates and legacy catalogues.
• Exposure to international licensing structures, including sub-agents and territory-based representation.
• Experience working with cross-media rights, including the adaption of theatrical works for film, television or other formats.
